Any preparations necessary for updating?

I'm currently rooted on VS98613B. No major issues other than god awful battery life. A while ago I remember someone here making a comment that I have to KDZ back to stock image if I want to update my phone in the future. Now that Verizon has released another update (VS98624C), I'm wondering if there's anything I have to do in advance before downloading the latest OTA update. I have no idea what "KDZ back to stock" means and what that entails. I'm not new to smartphones but I am definitely new to rooting so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
