With the S6 about to hit the market, can we expect a price drop on the Note 4? I need a new phone and the Note seems the way to go. I don't want to lay down a wad of cash today if there's a price drop forthcoming with the release of the S6. Anyone know anything?

Re: Any price drop internment?

No the Galaxy S6 won't affect the Note 4 price... they r two different series (Galaxy S series and Note series)

This will effect the Galaxy S5 price tho...

Re: Any price drop internment?

It depends how you are buying. If you are buying used it may be affected. I bought a mint note 4 for $400 on CL last week.

Re: Any price drop internment?

While I know that they are different series of phones, I guess i just assumed that a new flagship device release would "take the crown" from the old flagship device.

Re: Any price drop internment?

Won't really affect it. The 2 phones are geared towards 2 different demographics of people. Normally someone who buys notes will keep buying notes and same with the S series.

Re: Any price drop internment?

That's a shame.

But I guess silver lining? There's no point to waiting and I can go shopping this weekend.

Re: Any price drop internment?

You buy a brand new note 4 from swappa for under $600. You went get any price drops for the retailers. You may find a deal like bestbuy currently has. A $200 gift certificate if you finance a note 4.

Re: Any price drop internment?

Strange as it seems for this week only Their Cart Wheel has the Note 4 for 30% with 2 year contract. Might be getting one this week..... :)

Re: Any price drop internment?

To get an idea when a price drop might occur, and possibly how much, look at when the Note 3 dropped in relation to the Note 4 release.

Don't know if you are on verizon but they have refurbished note 4 for 485.

Re: Any price drop internment?

Yeah Verizon has refurbished for $485 but it requires buying a plan with the phone so unless you want to use Verizon it's not a deal.

I have verizon so I don't know but you can't order that phone at full retail unless you have verizon and a plan? If it's full retail shouldn't they sell it to anyone?

They should but they want to make that extra one month of service.

Re: Any price drop internment?

I doubt it would drop in price much. I only recently sold my note 3 to buy a note 4 and honestly I was quite surprised at just how well the Note 3 had retained its value. I bought a used note 3 in December 2013 for £350 and the last time I owned one (I changed phones a few times last year but ended up back with a Note) I sold it for £260. 15 months in tech terms is light years so I think the Note series are holding their value really well in general, especially now the 'phablet' is accepted among the mass public a bit more thanks to the iphone 6+

I was in the UK in January for an arsenal game. I was shocked at the prices for used electronics in stores. 600 pounds for a used iphone 6 plus is crazy. Also laptops with basic specs going for 250 pounds. And 45 pounds for a used copy of fifa 15. Insane.

The note 3 permanent price drop was pretty close to when the note 4 came out. However there are sales from time to time. For example, I picked up my Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for $90 on contract on release day.
