Any shutterbugs out there?

Adding the manual controls and RAW options is an awesome move. I'm excited to play with this one :)

I'm no photographer but the camera features are looking to be really good on this device! Last year I was thinking how simplistic the camera features were on my G3. You give me options, I'm going to use them!

The 0.6 launch time should be a significant feature too.

Anyone who has used the G3, or read the specs for the G4, does it seem this camera can do well with capturing motion? My droid turbo gave me fits until I finally returned it. I could not get one picture of even my dog trotting across a perfectly lit living room, so I am hoping for a nice improvement.

Does the droid turbo have OIS? I'm not particularly sure here but I believe OIS tends to prevent motion blurred pictures. This is why most like OIS. The S6 and G4 have OIS.

I do not believe it did. I laugh (well, at myself mostly) at their tagline....a powerhouse 21mp camera at the flick of your wrist to never miss any of the action. They forgot to add...*only in absolutely perfectly lit conditions with no movement what so ever from the user or subject at hand. It was just a mess of a camera phone.

That would've annoyed the living daylights out of me as well, lol!

OIS helps with low light pictures, allowing you to use slower shutter speeds without camera shake. It will not help with subject motion, in fact, if you use slower shutter speed, it will be worse.

What do you think of the new features of the camera in the G4?

I will admit, I am not one for taking pictures, but would love for those to sound off below about what you think.

On the spec sheet it looks great. Larger sensor, raw support, full manual mode, moderately high pixel count, 3 axis OIS, fast lens. Have to wait and see if the setup delivers though. The AMA thread shows pictures vs. GS6, and it looks like in one the GS6 handled highlights/dynamic range much better. Of course the GS6 has production software and the G4 was pre release, so that could change.

But to me the most important aspect for a phone camera is low light performance, so I am hoping this one brings some ability with the combination of big apeture, 3 axis OIS, full manual mode and raw support. These could all be very helpful in low light. Fingers crossed.

It is 3 axis. How many stops difference is tough to tell at this point.

Yeah, it's 6 points, which is 3 axis. I realized my mistake after it was quoted.

It also has more travel than the S6, although I'm not sure if that will matter outside of video unless you have a bad case of the shakes.

Agreed that's most important. And RAW + manual controls is right up there.
