i know that the thunderbolt will no doubt be a superior phone to the inspire 4g, but since their screen and form factor is so similar i was wondering if anyone has tried out a demo unit of the inspire 4g? i'm heading out now to do some shopping and plan on trying out at&t's demo unit to see how i like the feel of the handset. has anyone already done this? impressions?

I did. It was a REALLY nice phone. Super smooth. IMO, the camera left something to be desired, but I didn't try it out under the best conditions to be completely honest.

EDIT: The superior phone, IMO is the one that is/will be available. The lack of a release date at this point in the game is troubling.

its fairly similar. but the main thing is the network, im on att now, i usually dont have issues with coverage in town, but my speeds arent great on 3g. 1mb is were i top out. hspa+ should run about 5mb. but att has disabled the upload hspa+. its all about att coverage. if i was you id get the atrix, but if att cancells the upload on that to, att always has a catch with there android devices

A friend picked up the Inspire last week and I played around with it. very smooth, felt good in my hand. Didn't play around with speed much because we were on wifi . I live in Atlanta and AT&T coverage is very good here.

just came back from checking out some phones. played with the iphone 4 and the inspire 4g side by side. the iphone, as expected, felt solid and the interface and screen were super smooth and lag-free. the screen size didn't feel super tiny either, likely because the resolution is so incredible. the big surprise however was the inspire 4g. i loved the size and heft. the construction was rock solid. and the screen , while not having the super saturated whites and blacks of the iphone, was really beautiful. beyond that, it was equally responsive and lag-free. i was on the fence between the thunderbolt and the iphone but this definitely swayed me into the thunderbolt camp. as long as it comes out in the next few weeks and they don't jack up the price that'll be my next phone.

I've tried one out and was amazed at how light it was. Almost no weight to it all.

Sent from my INCredible phone

Checked out the Inspire over the weekend. Very well built phone. As others have said if runs very smooth and responsive. My biggest complaint is the low speakerphone/ringer volume. Hopefully the Bolts' big kickstand speaker takes care of that consern. The Inspire 4G still kicks the Craptivate's butt.

A buddy at work got the Inspire last week and let me play with it. That thing is unbelievably smooth. I already knew for sure that I was getting the Thunderbolt, but after just navigating the home screens on his phone I was 100% sold.

Yeah, my gf's uncle has one of these. Messed with it, zoomed the screens out, messed with a few apps. I was blown away. Would totally grab it if I was on ATT probably over the Atrix. The new HTC Sense is just awesome.

edit: if the screen on the TBolt is anything like it is on the Inspire, I will be happy. It felt very smooth

I'd be dissappointed with the inspire if i were an att customer waiting on a top tier htc phone (its just lacking spec wise), but as a verizon customer i would like to go check out the inspire in store and a get a feel for this gen's htc hardware, b4 deciding on the tbolt. havent yet

edit
i think the tbolt is thicker than the inspire, btw

I was at BB and the HTC rep there handed me his Inspire since I was asking about the T-Bolt. It was quite smooth, though I didn't really know what I was doing since I haven't owned an Android phone. Definitely felt good in the hand and screen looked good. I didn't do network tests or anything very specific.

If I were on ATT, I'd try it out and prolly buy it in a heartbeat. It's really a shame they confine phones to being sold by provider instead of making every model available whichever provider you have.
