Any tips for instant upload vs One?

So one thing that is drawing me toward getting a One is some of the camera features, in particular, the highlights and zoes. I have 4 kids and these features sound like they could suite me in capturing shots. On my Gnex I use G+ instant upload and love that all my photos get backup up to my google account without me even having to think about it.

On the reviews of the One that touch on these One camera features it is always noted to disable auto upload as these features make a mess of things.

So is there a happy medium to be able to use these features regularly and still get the benefits of instant upload apps (G+ and dropbox)?
