First off, Im not trying to get around company policy, just trying to see if there is a better way...

They are forcing us to use this app

https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.apps.enterprise.dmagent

I like getting my email on my phone, but not at the expense of loading this app that has quite a few bad reviews...

Anyone else have this experience?

is there any security built into 4.0 that is equivalent that would satisfy my IT group...

I can see my son trying to get into my phone, and after a few tries, the phone wipes itself... not good...

Thanx for any help
Danny

That app isn't about making the information secure, it's about making your phone itself secure by enforcing the lock, etc. So no, there's no way around it.

Solution: don't let your son get ahold of your phone

I used to use my company phone as my personal phone, co-mingling stuff was bad on a number of levels. I now have a dedicated phone for work and another for personal stuff, it's $40 a month or so for an extra line but definitely worth it to keep both phone numbers and devices separate. Remember, IT can implement policies that allow them to remotely wipe your phone in case it's lost or you leave your job - that alone should give anyone pause for thought about using their personal phone for corporate email.

VMWare is working on a mobile virtual machine so you could actually have a virtual phone inside your personal phone that IT can have complete control over without needing to access your personal phone. I can't wait for this to actually be released.

dcastillo I think I know where you work ;)
me too.
If you figure something out let us know.
Right now I am opting not to get my work email on my personal phone because of issues with that app.
