Any way to get 16X9 at some resolution between 16megapixle and 6megapixle?

That is a huge drop. I'd like to get a 16X9 at around 8-12. The 16 is a bit much and 6 a bit small. I don't need all those other offbeat aspect ratios that are offered.

It depends on the app. Try different ones and look at the resolutions it gives you. (Remember, the actual resolution is the resolution of the CCD chip. Saving the picture at a lower resolution means throwing pixels away according to some algorithm, so the picture still looks half-decent and the file is smaller. The quality of the picture is reduced, though.)
