I travel frequently and like to save my conformation email from the hotel so that I have my reservation numbers with me. Sometimes the reservations are made months in advance so I don't want to keep this message sitting in my inbox that long. On my BB I could just select the message and hit save and it would not be deleted when I cleaned out my inbox.

Any way to save a message to another folder or to the sd card?

I am using the included email program with gmail and hotmail.

Thanks

ps this is my first Android phone so still learning the settings and tricks.

If you long tap on any single email, a new dialog pops up and one of the options is Archive.

Thanks that works for gmail but not my hotmail it only gives me two folder options inbox or delete.
Any more ideas?

I don't have hotmail (though you might consider forwarding it to your gmail account), but you could try downloading the K-9 email app. I know it's a solid email app, it's free and it would take you about 2-3 minutes to set it up. It has a Move option after a long press that them shows a bunch of folder you can move an email into. Again, not having hotmail, I have no idea how it might work, but it's probably worth a try.

Maildroid has an option to save to the SD card right from the menu button. It's like k9 and I set it up for my yahoo account. Iv'e only been using it for a couple weeks but, so far it has been perfectly reliable and a good alternative to the stock Android Mail app.

No saved email folder

I just gave up my Blackberry Storm for the Motorola Droid X. I'm seriously considering taking it back. That it keeps message history in your contacts is in and of itself reason enough, but the final straw was when I just tried to save an email only to realize THERE IS NO SAVE FOLDER!!!! If there is an app that will allow me to save an email (right now the only folders are inbox and trash) please let me know, or this crap goes back. By the way, I don't mean save an attachment. I mean save an email. On the storm if you hit save on any type of message it goes to your saved folder. Even if you delete everything in your inbox. To delete it once you've saved it you must delete it from the saved folder.

Here are a couple solutions that I got from this thread Any way to save an email?

I also merged them together...

You sound pretty angry. I'm sure you weren't expecting an entirely different operating platform to be identical to RIM's, so you'll have to expect to find new ways to do things. I have yet to see a Save folder on my X like my Storm had, but if I long press on any email, it pops up a bunch of options, one of which is Archive (another way of saying Save). As mentioned in this thread, you can also try K-9 or MailDroid, both free apps that handle your email with extra options. If none of that works for you, you can always get another bb...it's just a phone...not a way of life.

I just hit the menu key (hard key bottom left) and mark and "unread" and then decide what to do with it next time I am on my computer. I was frustrated at first because I would read an email with the intention of dealing with it later when I was at my desk top and it would be gone. Since I have been changing it to "unread" I am fine. I too just moved from Blackberry and it will take some time to learn the new software. But, you have to give it that time.

I'm pretty sure that if you delete it on your X, if you go to trash, either on your phone, or to your gmail account on your pc, whatever you deleted it there.
