Any way to teach the phone how to understand names?

I have some names in my contacts list that no matter how I say them my G2 cannot understand so it always tries to call the wrong number.

This happens with the phone directly or with a bluetooth device as well

Is there any way to train it to know how a certain name is pronounced?

Mine did the same for a week and don't know what happened but voice dialer is 99% accurate now.

Does the G2 use the stock Google People app? Or some LG replacement? Either way, try this:

Open People/Contacts app, open the contact you have problems with, hit edit, scroll all the way to the bottom, tap Add Another Field, select Phonetic Name and enter the name spelled the way you would pronounce it.

By example, voice dialer on my phone has a problem with the name Maeve (rhymes with wave). I entered it as Mave under the Phonetic Name and no more problems.

Thanks, but unfortunately Phonetic Name is not available on my G2. It is on my Nexus 7. Sounds like it would be the fix.

You could also try adding it through Google on your computer.
www.google.com/contacts
Login, select contact, tab Add at the bottom, select Phonetic Name, and you get the idea.

Thank you for this tip. I've been having the same issue with a couple of names - including one of my most frequently called. Just added the phonetic name via my computer and will let you know how it works.
