I freakin' told my mom NOT to install any updates that come around and what is the first thing she does....She proceeds with the ICS update and now she is calling me freaking out because her phone looks completely different and she doesn't know what to do. Soooo, is there a way to uninstall the ICS update and get her back to the Gingerbread interface? We live multiple states away and I can't help her in person.

Alternatively, is there a link to an easy (for a non-techy person) setup guide that I could point her to so she could try and learn about the new UI on her own. Help!!

I TOLD her to get the iPhone and but noooo, she wanted a free phone.:mad:

She chose right not to get a fruit phone and u bogas for tellin her lol jkjk but not as far as I know but ics is an

She probably shouldn't be using a smartphone if this is throwing her for a loop.

In all seriousness, there would be ways to get her back to Gingerbread if she were rooted.

Second, I can't think of anything so strikingly different about the actual usage of ICS that would cause her to freak out and not be able to work her phone. Logic would tell me to hit that big button in the center, just like GB, to bring up my apps. I certainly better know what that picture of a telephone handset does. And the cute smiling green face is more or less a carryover icon from GB.

So she should be able to make calls and text and all her apps are still right there. Again, why is she freaking out?

Well I think it shocked her more than anything to see a completely new UI after applying an update. She knows NOTHING of Gingerbread and ICS and the google naming schemes. She really thought she had screwed something up because it did look so different. I think the rep at the Sprint store showed her a few things and I told her to just play around with it and it will become familiar. I mean, she is 62 and not very techie oriented. In all honesty, I hear ICS has quite the learning curve (I'm still on CM7-based rom on my EVo)

Completely understandable. Mom doesn't want all the fuss & bling but unfortunately other than going through and using a restore to stock app and getting everything setup for her to do it that is her only option for uninstalling ICS.

Tell mom to relax, give it some time and I think in the long run she will appreciate the update. Many people were shocked back months ago when we started running custom ICS ROMs on the NS4G and the overall change of the UI and its features, many said in the beginning "This is horrible, its a bad upgrade.. " Most of those same people now today have come to terms with it and would never go back to GB.

Trust me I know where your coming from... My mom.. Same thing she's 63 and not the tech savvy person.. She wants a phone that makes phone calls... Bottom line.. The rest is useless garbage that should be saved for your home computer in her opinion. LOL...

But if worst comes to worst, hit me up via PM and we could go over the restore to stock guide and if you wanted to attempt restoring her back to GB at some point.
