Sorry I have not released it yet. Trying to enjoy the fact that I have the only LG Phoenix on 2.3.7 so far :)

It's from LG, and no, they will not release it to end users. AT&T and others were to make it available to users but I have yet to see them do that.

What I want to know is if they fixed the ringtone so it does not start out soft, fixed the 300k limitation that AT&T put into ringtone sizes, and fixed the problem of pocket dialing 911 all the time.

...and Joban....please do not brag if you are not willing to share. We all paid good money for our phones and would like to enjoy them with the latest software.

I spoke with a rep from LG a few weeks ago and they said that a text message will be sent to your handset so that you can upgrade. Didn't give a date though.

So I had a thought what if we all get on LG/AT&T about releasing the kernel/source code for gingerbread. Start mass emailing them everyone send the same email everyday till they release the source to us. Even if they don't have a full working ROM if we can pressure them into give us the kernel were home free. What do you think?

Would be nice to get 2.3. I believe the Avail has that. Thought about switching (especially after reading how easy it is to root), but it doesn't give me enough reasons to upgrade. Screen about the same...processor the same...camera not much better...yet it has 2.3.

I'll probably hold out until I can afford....rather justify...a used infuse or something.

So another round of battling with LG here is what they have to say

Miguel: Hello Guest. Welcome to LG Electronics U.S.A. Support only. How may I provide you with excellent service today?
Guest: I was wondering if you know of could direct me to a person that would know whether there will even be an update from 2.2 to 2.3 for the P505 and P506
Miguel: I would be happy to help you with that.
Miguel: Unfortunately there is no information regarding future updates for these models
Guest: whom would I need to contact to find out this information or to make a request that it be released
Miguel: Let's say p500 if a family member, but not a brother, not even a cousin
Miguel: I'm really sorry, but we are not the ones in charge of the updates, the carrier informed the update would be released in due time
Guest: but you are the ones that provide the source code to the carriers
Miguel: I would like to let you in to some information as well so you could understand a bit more to how the phone and service are actually developed. You see; software and service actually come from the carrier. LG?s role was to develop the phone hardware for the carriers to place their software into and offer the service. Basically what I mean to say is that if you would be interested in finding out information related to software I suggest contacting the carrier since they should have more concrete foundations for your questions.
Miguel: . As well, even though LG engineers do help out through out the development process, LG does not actually support third party software or applications, which in any case you would want to contact the carrier as well if dealing with issues related to apps or other software not directly related to the phone.
Miguel: I am always happy to help out as best I can with situations in general, but I am unfortunately only limited to the information we have for the hardware specifications and what we can find in the Owner?s manual. I do apologize for the inconvenience if there is any. Hopefully you now have a better picture of software vs hardware. I did try to type in this information as clearly as I could so you could have a better picture of how LG phones are actually made.

And the conversation when on but pretty much degraded in to tell him he was wrong and him telling me that AT&T made there own Gingerbread. I tried to get a contact other that the chat support and came up empty handed. It might come down to harassing AT&T some which is always a huge issue cause they seem to always screw my phone up somehow whenever I talk to them. If anyone can find a good contact we can pester to get 2.3 released so we can get a .35 kernel please post it.

Hello there folks, 2 weeks ago soft bricked my phoenix chtr (P 505CH). I tried diff rom's to no avail. Nothing seems to work. my phone had the fuzzy screen and all, I couldn't get joban kernel to install. Plugged it in my computer and clicked update on LGMobile update in the hope i would at least get 2.2.2 and a working phone again. A few hard resets later i noticed the battery icon was different. Guess what, that's right 2.3.4. I don't know whether this is just for this type in Canada. look for this rom and you're flying. SV-P505CH-V20a

Happy updating
