Absolutely nothing for the individual. It's shared plan like we've all been ing about or prepaid. That's it.

No individual plans with 2 gigs of data. It's shared or nothing.

EDIT: HOWEVER, if actually go through the process of buying a phone with service, the old individual/family plans are still there. Which means they didn't even update the ordering process on their site to reflect the new shared only plans.

OR

They still have the old plans and they aren't advertising them on their own website.

I'm guessing the former.

They announced this earlier in the month, I upgraded last week to buy myself another 2 years on my current plan. Hopefully by then they will come to their senses, otherwise I'm going to a GSM carrier and buying my phones directly from Google.

Right. I knew all about the plans but the belief was the individual 450 minute/900 minute plans plus 2 gigs of data for $30 for one smartphone was going to remain even for new customers.

That's not the case it seems.

Just went the through the ordering process as an upgrader from my TBolt. I was allowed to keep my existing minutes/text plan but they did kill the unlimited data changing me to 2 gigs for the $30.

For existing customers they have the option to stay with the old minute plans. New customers have to go with the new plans. That is per our training for selling Verizon.

And it begins - I will no longer be willing to sign a new contract. I will continue to pay outright for my devices from now on. Oh well, at least I can now upgrade when I want without feeling guilty about not waiting for an upcoming discount.

If you go through the process on the Verizon website, you do get the option for the old Individual plans.

There are individual plans available. Go to verizonwireless.com and then go "Shop Phones." Pick a device and proceed through the checkout and when you select plans you can pick Share Everything or Individual.

450 minute plans and others are available. $30 for 2GB too.

Have you tried this for any other phone other than the Galaxy SIII preorder?

If I add a RAZR MAXX to my cart and move to plans, it goes straight to Share Everything..

If you start the process by trying to preorder a Galaxy SIII, you can get the options to choose an Individual plan.

Exactly same thing for me. Preorder the GSIII and I can select the old plans. Order a phone they actually have in stock and I can only order the new shared data plans.

I just talked to a Verizon rep on the phone to upgrade 1 of my lines and he told me if I upgraded 1 line every line on the plan has to go to shared family plan. I can't just purchase my phone outright but all lines to keep my unlimited.

Whoa... All lines have to change simply to upgrade one of the lines?

That's what the rep told me. I was going to upgrade 1 line but I said no thanks since I needed to talk to my wife about what we wanted to do.

You were misinformed by the Verizon rep.

That's great I'll give them another call.
I don't mind buying my phone outright but I don't want to do that on lines that doesn't use a lot of data. Also I can just tell my 18 year old if he goes over he has to pay.

Just called Verizon back and the rep told me the lines I upgrade with subsidy can go to a tiered data plan.
Thanks for the information Ry.
