I'm going to pick up the VZW LG G2 on Thursday. Thinking about ordering a case online (vs. overpaying for one in store), but I'm not sure of the version differences. Everyone has seen the pic of the Verizon G2, but it honestly looks more like a render than a photo to me. I'm just wondering if the cases available will really fit the VZW G2....

The rear buttons on it look disturbingly small on the Verizon website.

Real photo, or render?

I bet the verizon version is going to be fatter than the others due to the wireless charging coil.

Son of a BEACH, is there really going to be a Verizon logo plastered on the upper right hand corner like that? It's like a smear of ****. I hope that isn't the final product, I really think it's a gorgeous phone and to add a ridiculous and small logo to the front like that is simply disappointing and overall bad product design (not by LG).

Handled a dummy unit at best buy today..although I haven't seen another carriers, the buttons seemed relatively small.

With that being said the device felt awesome.

Decided it was time to jump in rather than just lurking. ;) I'm also a VZW customer and will most likely try to pick one of these babies up on Thursday. Was leaning heavily toward the HTC One (also seriously considered the S4 and Note 3) until this came out and knocked my socks off in terms of spec's and what I'm personally looking for in a device. Like others', I don't necessarily love the Verizon variant of the rear keys, but it did occur to me that the differentiation between the size and shape of the keys and the camera surround might help your fingers more easily steer clear of the camera lens a bit better than the stock version. Just a guess. Plus, of course, it differentiates the VZW version from the rest of the pack. I don't love the VZW rear key, but it's not a deal breaker for me. Also, as JSpinaris, said, I've seen a few pictures or renders of cases on the web - starting with the Incipio version - with the VZW variant in a standard variant case and it seems to fit just fine. Doesn't look as polished or "finished" with the bigger hole and the smaller key, but looks okay. Figure I'll pick up a less expensive case to start (like the Poetic) and then get something nicer later on, when they will hopefully be making a VZW variant of more cases; especially hope for a VZW version of the the Spigen Slim Armor, myself. Curious whether they'll add a Quick Window version of that like they did with the S4. Just my 2 Quatloos. Looking forward to hearing what everyone else has to say.

It's the size of the power button that mainly concerns me. And I still haven't seen any cases that are currently available specifically for it (haven't exactly scored the earth, though). It'll probably be fine, but Verizon could #&?% up an anvil with a rotten banana....

Your first concern = Knock On

A specific case, check out the link in the 2nd post. Plus trust me Verizon will be selling some.

I'm going to try and carry mine naked and see how that goes.

I'm sure that'll be my favorite software feature, but there are still many uses for the power button itself for someone who loves flashing ROMs as much as I do (which will hopefully be possible).

Are those Incipio cases currently available? I was trying to have one delivered in order to forgo my usual waste of $20-30 on a trashy Verizon case. (A case is vital where I work. My GNex met concrete on 12-19-2011)

I'm going to try and carry mine naked and see how that goes.

I thought my GNex would be fine for a few days until I could pick a case I liked. Only took me 24 hours to find out that slippery plastic phones fall out of pockets much more easily than TPU-cased phones. :-\ Been paranoid since then.

I have a GNex too and only reason I have a case is because how slippery it is, even though the G2 is glossy plastic I'm going the shape makes it is slippery. Anyway I got my GNex on release day and night a Incipio case for it right there at Verizon. So hopefully Verizon will have it for this phone too.

It's funny, after seeing the standard model I had the same thought about the volume and power button and volume rocker being too small ... then I looked at all the ultra slim and small power buttons and volume rockers on most of the other devices out there and realized that even the VZW versions are actually big by comparison. Plus, if they are curved as they appear, that should help the index finger differentiate between them. That said, I still like the look of the standard version better. And I laughed at your comment about Verizon. I have to admit they frustrate the hell out of me more often than not, but I'm tied to them for a number of reasons, unfortunately, so trying to make the best of it.

Most phones' power buttons are small, but they stick out. This phone's power button is supposedly counter-sunk to prevent accidental pressing. Makes me wonder if it'll be annoying to use with my big fat sausage fingers.

some stores have them already. the store i called only had (they claim but might be dark blue) black unfortunately (maybe order white online?) and the verizon logo they said YES IT WAS ON THE TOP CORNER!!!! YUCKKKKKKKK!!! (confirmed by a couple different stores) Almost deal killer for me. I hate Verizon.

Oh by the way, $599 off contract.

Of you hate Verizon leave! If I hated a company I wouldn't use them period! And I heard all the excuses "in on my parents" "I have unlimited" "it's through work" and on and on. All of that wouldn't matter to me, like I said if I hated them I wouldn't lose them!

As for carrying it "naked", I just thought I'd mention that the one negative comment Aaron Baker (at PhoneDog) has had thus far is that after dropping it face down one time (without a case or screen protector), the screen is scuffed up pretty badly in one not insignificant spot. I know that's more about screen protectors than cases, but the lip most cases offer around the screen can help. Just thought I'd pass that along for your consideration.

I know what you mean about sausage fingers. Will be interesting to finally see these things in person, as the power buttons on both the stock version and the VZW version appear to me to "bump out" (with a bit of side "shielding" around it on the stock version), but it's so hard to tell for certain from these limited online images.

I have no choice. Yes work account paid by company. Sorry you don't like my opinion Mr. Verizon, but I am entitled to have one and express it, even here.
