Truthfully... It's just OK... and a lot of people wouldn't hear a difference, but if you know what you are supposed to hear and don't hear it, yes it's not real good.
What can help is some good monitors that aren't real bright sounding on the highs and can produce clean crisp bass that doesn't overdrive the mids on vocals with good equalization. The thing to remember is that it's not all about being loud but clean and clear. Being able to go as low as possible without any audible hiss is every bit as important for quality reproduction of music.

Well bad earphones will be bad on whatever smartphone you use, my Hifiman RE-272 and 262 are wonderful on my M9 but the bundled earphones that came with the BT Sony SBH-50 (equivalent of EX12) are awful even with equalizer tricks in V4A, so I am using the Hifiman on the SBH-50 and the sound quality is delicious, though volume is much lower than wired.
It was pretty much the same with the S6 I had but I had to use more tweaks in V4A to get better quality.
Do you think V4A can boost the audio quality on G4?
