Anyone coming to the M9 from Samsung phones?

Hi,
I've been using samsung phones like forever, s3, s4, s5, note 2/3/4. I am bored and looking to switch to different phone. Heard some good words about the M8.
If you have switched to HTC phone from Samsung phone, please share your experience. Thanks.

I still would rather wait to see what the M9 is like before I commit to anything. Now granted, I am not coming from a Samsung, but I am due for an early upgrade in the fall, and I am going to look at all my options before saying: Here, take my money.

You are going to get different opinions from everyone on this lol.

I've used the SGS1, 2, 4, 5 and the Note2. I've also had the m7 (briefly) and now the m8. Besides the screen, I prefer the HTCs in nearly every way. With the Samsung phones there was always so much "extra" stuff going on that I would inevitability get weird glitchy **** going on or battery drain issues. Rooting and flashing custom firmware often fixed the problems... but with the HTCs I don't have to worry about any of that.

Give HTC a shot. Worst case, you hate it and move back to Samsung.

I might be moving from my S5 to the M9. That's only if HTC comes out with a 5.5" (or larger) M9, otherwise I'll see what Samsung is going to do with the S6 (they need to offer at least a 5.5" model) or just get the Note Edge if none of that pans out. I'm not happy with Android 5.0.0 on my S5 and need a phone that can actually get me through a solid work day without needing to be plugged in. I'm hesitant to try Samsung again so I hope the 5.5" M9 pans out. I'm tired of my current 5.1" screen size and want something bigger. Unfortunately that means waiting for the G4 (I can't wait, not with my S5), seeing what Samsung is doing, or hoping that HTC releases a phablet this time around (they skipped it last year).

I'm probably coming from my Samsung, LG, and Motorola although I'll keep the Turbo.

According to the rumours, neither of them will happen. One M9 expected to have 5" screen, S6 expected to have 5.1" screen.

There are rumours of an M9 Max version, but nothing concrete on it. To be honest I don't think we'll see it at MWC.

Which is very disappointing. I held little hope for a 5.5" variant of the S6 as that approaches Note territory but HTC hasn't been in the phablet market. They released the One Max in 2013 and that's been it, it's time they release a new phablet. I may still get the M9 if it's a formidable option but I would really like a phone with at least a 5.5" display and I don't trust Samsung/Verizon with future software updates for the Note 4/Edge (especially after they botched my S5 with Android 5.0.0, one reason why I can't hold out for the LG G4).

I switched from the gs3 to the M8 and the first thing you'll notice (not a bad thing) is the weight. It just feels different in your hand. No more light warm plastic, this stuff is heavy and cold to the touch when left out for a while. Anyway I use a case so that doesn't really matter. As far as software goes, the amount of HTC apps I use with the device is significantly less than I did with Samsung, but that is partly also due to custom launchers, keyboards, messenger apps etc. The only thing on the HTC phone that I use is Camera, Gallery, and Flashlight. The system UI is nicer and more clean with sense. But you lose the blue vibrancy that was popular with the themes in touchwiz. Speaking of colors you do get used to the LCD screen compared to amoled, just not the contrast between the deep blacks and other colors.
Really switching between android devices is a lot easier now with services expanding platforms and cloud storage backing up almost everything. If you like the build quality and the stats you should give it a try! HTC has won me over and it would take a whole lot of pizzazz for a new S phone (other than the note) to impress me.
