Anyone else concerned about his Nexus5 power/wake button?

I tap it around 30 times a day, considering such wear and tear, would it seem likely to break in a year or less?
I am concerned because there is no alternative button like samsung s3 and other phones I had (which even used the volume rocker to wake the device)

I use a flip cover case which has a magnetic sensor that wakes the phone whenever the cover is opened, and puts it to sleep whenever closed. Great feature.

I highly recommend DynamicNotifications. This app aims to mimic the Moto X Active Display. It will reduce your needs of the power button to wake your screen.

You can also rely on good, old Tasker to wake your screen without the power button. If you take a step further, you can create a volume slider and not even need the volume rocker.

Also in response to your original question, I've had phones with only the power button for a few years, and I've never had any concerns about them breaking. I don't worry about this one either.

I agree with Silas0220. I don't have problems with the buttons breaking. But I am worrying about the micro USB port now that I'm using the Meenova. Time to get a wireless charger. Luckily they did make that possible.

I would have agreed with you until yesterday. I loved it, but to eliminate it as the possible cause of other wonky behavior on my Nexus 5 I decided to delete it. You have to deactivate it in device manager in order to uninstall it. When I did, it took two homescreens with it. Interestingly, they were homescreens that only contained widgets.

I have thought about this same thing a few times. Though I would like to have another method to wake the device, I'm sure there will be no issue with the power button in the long run. Just need to trust in the device build quality.

If rooting is an option you could install a custom kernel. Swipe to wake and swipe to sleep. Even double tap to wake

I wasn't concerned about power button over use until my S3 quit working. Thought about Nexus 5 power button also.. Gravity Screen app is perfect! Thank you..

I'm not concerned at all. I've never had a power button go bad on any of my Android devices. I know that on iPhone the home button is a failure point, but that doesn't make me more concerned about it on my device.
