For me it's the Citi Mobile app...

Opening the Citi Mobile app today (trying) and it gives a crash message and closes and won't open no matter how many times you try to open it. When that happens I have to uninstall it and reinstall it and then it will work just fine. But it seems like I always have to do this every 2-3 months. No other app (Maybe Chase app once or twice).

So just wondering... Anyone else have the ONE app that always crashes and needs reinstalling every 2-3 months?

Maybe the security update keeps breaking it. But luckily reinstalling it fixes is to not a lingering bug with the app.

Never heard of having to uninstall and reinstall an app for crashing. Sounds like something else is in the mix. Corrupted files, storage or permissions maybe?

Yeah, always that Citi app for me... seems like every 2-3 months.

I kinda feel I wish I could do a Window equivalent CCleaner on it for maybe a registry type or corrupted file issue like you mention. I did one factory reset when I first got the phone to clear up freezing/rebooting issues back then. But I haven't done one since... even after the Oreo update because, except for that, it's been running pretty much flawless and I usually follow a rule of resetting after a major OS update.

Hmm... maybe I'll just wait until we get Pie and do a rest then.

do you need to uninstall ?
can you not just go into setting - apps - storage and there -- clear cache ?
it works when my banking app is acting up with force close error

I don't think I actually tried that for this particular issue. I'll try to remember that next time. Thx.

Sometimes, you can benefit by not being the first on the newest version of Android. Some apps aren't updated yet and you get issues. I don't think that's your problem. But, I would doubt the next version of Android would fix it. I use the Chase app and never had issues like you described. I wonder if something is just corrupted.

Yeah, didn't mean Pie would fix it... just that since I haven't done a reset after Oreo came out, I just might do a bit of spring cleaning when it does and do it. But j_hansen's recommendation of clearing cache is worth trying next time I run into it.

I just changed my fingerprints in security 2-3 days earlier because I always seem to have a prob reading my fingerprint so I kinda wondered if that could have messed something up with verifying the security on the app and crashing it. eh.

Gotcha. That's usually how I get screwed up. Not crashing. But, if I'm on a new phone or change fingerprints, the fingerprint login is disabled. Then, I can't remember my password and my account gets disabled.
