Anyone else's power button starting to get flakey?

First-day Verizon GS3 user here--If I just straight-up press the power button on the first try it'll almost always turn off and then flick back on immediately. Same thing when the screen is off--if I turn it on, it'll flick on and then straight off again. If I wake it with the home button, it'll turn on no problem, no flickering. Pretty sure it's hardware, given all of that. The odd thing is, I can pretty easily turn the screen off and on by pressing on the phone near the power button. Kind of annoying, and not a huge deal, but this is going to get old if I have to do this for another year. Anyone else having button problems?

I started having this exact problem just this morning and now my phone is pretty much completely inoperable... I dont think mine is hardware though, pretty sure its some FUBAR'd firmware or something

I haven't had that happen, so maybe your phones are defective? Mines always in a case, so the buttons are usually protected. I haven't had this happen before though, that's weird

When you say "first day user" do you mean that you just got the phone? If so you should immediately take it in for an exchange. It sure sounds like a hardware problem.
