Anyone ever send a TB to HTC?

Ten hour drive relying on Google Nav, my TB rebooted 9 times.

After talking to a complete moron at Verizon's 800 number, I was sent a replacement phone.

I am now having a really annoying tinny sound coming from my replacement phones. Talking on the phone is painful-it is almost like the earphone speaker is blown out.

Replacement one was the worst one for this, I could barely hold a conversation it was so bad
Replacement two was just poorly built, major light leakage, power button was impossible to hit, ect.
Replacement three is here, it is built fine, and doesn't seem to reboot, but I am still dealing with some distortion. I am tired of setting up my phone so many times!

I am thinking of sending my phone to HTC to get repaired. I have a replacement slider phone I can use in the meanwhile. I am willing to bet that I would get a great repair from HTC in exchange for losing the phone for a week or so.

The cost of the repair is covered by HTC, but I have to ship it to New York.

FYI:
The number to call is 800 229-1235
The address is
HTC
555 Wireless Blvd
Hauppauge, NY 11788

Has anyone done this? Send the phone to the manufacturer instead of Verizon? I am hoping for a black void sticker, and some peace of mind here.

I've not done it. But I admit it sounds like a good plan. I tend to agree with your assessments. Keep us informed. Actually, I am surprised HTC will allow this. But...

I'm about to take a 32 hour road trip with my phone, interested to see how many times it reboots over that time! I dont want to exchange though because it was fine pre-OTA and it is still in pristine condition. So, I'm going to wait out a software update.

I had my TB in the car dock, running Waze and Google Nav, well and Doggcatcher for the podcasts. I had a ton of reboots on the way there. Thought that it might have to do with the heat and direct contact with the sun. (I was driving through Louisiana to Mississippi,) but it didn't reboot at all on the way back, and the conditions and usage were exactly the same.

Seems completely random. I am interested in how many reboots you have, and I think that I am going to send off my TB on Monday when I get a little more info on the turnaround time, and if I need to take out my sim card and sd card.

I'll post more when I know more.

I once sent an E815 to Motorola directly for repair. They sent a refurb back that was better than anything I had ever seen from Verizon. I always go straight to the source since Verizon refused to warranty my E815 battery under the 1 year factory warranty.

My last refurb that I got from verizon had the SAME ear piece problem. It was like a sharp noise that I could hear every other few words, God it sucked! I'm on my 5th refurb and waiting for another one that should be here on Monday.

Yup that is it!

Just an update, you should expect a "two week" turnaround if you send it in, and you need a copy of your invoice.

Two weeks is too long, I just bugged Verizon for another TB.

Interesting option though, you do get your phone looked at by techs, but keep this mind:

HTC contracts out the phone repairs.

I might still do this if I can't get a good VZW CLN device, but two weeks is a long time, and this feature phone sucks...

Broadwayblues, I work 5 minutes from there...good to know in case I have a problem with my phone. (crosses fingers)

The CLN program is crap. I'll never accept another one after the fiasco with all the bogus Thunderbolts.

I finally got a new one, and it's perfect.
