I used 3D scanner and 3D printer to create replicas of artifacts for an archaeology course. A lot of arch labs have them for research and teaching.

I've always wanted to. My school has 3D printers available for use. I just don't know where to get started with the modeling lol

I suppose one use for it is if you have an item that you want to modify, you can make copies of it first so that if it doesn't work out, you can just keep making copies until something works.

I don't own one but I've printed things before on them...seems like more of a novelty for me, but can't wait to see 3d printing involved more in medicine.
