I have an upgrade coming in January 2011. I like the form factor of the Droid Pro with the portrait always available keyboard. I just do not know if I can go back to 320x480 screen resolution after my Droid.

I never use the slide out keyboard on my Droid and use the on screen keyboard (Smart Keyboard Pro), just because the slide out is such a pain to get to.

Looking for feedback for those who may have made this migration to the Pro.

I am currently using exchange active sync with touchdown for my corporate data, mainly becasue I need task sync.

Mark, I was thinking of the same thing except I have the Droid 2. When I first saw this phone, I got pissed off because had this been out in late August, when I purchased my Droid 2, I would have most likely gone with the Pro. I'm waiting to read some reviews on this thing before I consider selling my Droid 2. Would you consider getting the Droid 2 Global or are you sold on the form factor of the Pro? Any other comments that help guide me in the right direction here are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I currently have the oroginal Moto Droid. And, I just ordered my Drod Pro today. I played with it in the store & I was in love. I will report back after I get it in my hot little hands.

I love the screen on my original Droid, but I really hate landscape keyboards. I love the form factor of the Blackberry Torch that I use for work. I am looking forward to having a similar setup in an Android device for personal use. My Droid Pro cannot arrive quickly enough. My current Droid is going on ebay tonight.

Love Love Love my Droid Pro. As a current Blackberry user for work and a former Moto Q9m user, this form factor feels like coming home. I thought I would be bothered by the smaller screen and lower resolution, but I am not. The phone is quick and it doesn't crash nearly as much as the Droid. And the size and weight are just right. Not as heavy as my Droid or my Q9m. I would definitely recommend this to current Droid 1 owners. Especially if you have used a Blackberry and are use to this type of front facing QWERTY.

Also, I use AppBrain, and most of my Apps synced without any problems. The speakers and call quality are equal to my original Droid (which I think have execellent speakers and call quality). The Droid Pro uses the same battery as my original Droid which was a nice discovery because I have an backup battery.

Speaking of the battery, the batter life is not very good on this phone. It seems worse than the battery life on the original Droid. I may have to invest in the extended battery.

I would recommend making the switch. I think this is a great phone that most users will be happy with.

I would do it in a heartbeat if the screen resolution was better.

Will probably go Droid X or Droid Inc HD in January when I can do a 1 year upgrade.

i almost upgrade my original droid, but i need to first play with the droid pro. so i made a visit to nearest verizon store and took one for a spin. yes, the screen resolution was good enough but there were tiny UI elements here and there that looked kind of blurry.
unfortunately, i was disappointed with the keyboard. i really like this keyboard style (i had a BB Bold 9000 before i went to the Droid), but the DPro's keyboard was too cramped/narrow. the other problem is that it it's missing arrow keys or some sort of trackball thingy in order to be able to move back a couple letters or word (not backspace) and trying to get the cursor into the middle of a word is next to impossible with one's finger.
anyway, i am hanging onto my original droid until something else with a decent physical keyboard comes along. although, i might revisit the droid pro if nothing comes along soon.

I had the original Droid, then switched to the Fascinate, then sold the Fascinate for the Droid Pro. If anyone can say they sacrificed screen size and resolution for this phone, that would be me. That being said, it doesn't bother me in the least. So far I'm very happy with the DPro. The form factor is perfect. Love the touch screen + physical keyboard + Android OS. I was a hard core BB user before the D1, and can say the form factor was something I missed, but Android is here to stay with the DPro for me as a business user...
