Anyone going to try this?

I guess that author decided to rip off the idea from a XDA member.

If I really cared about the sound of the speaker I would try it. No harm really. Can always be put back in.

Re: Anyone going to try this speaker mod?

Just did it. A little louder but more clear clean sound. vocals from the speaker sound better. you won't be blown away with how much louder it is however it is noticeable.

The part that is removed has a membrane on it in addition to the mesh screen. Keep in mind that it is there to keep dirt and water out. Once the screws are out it does take a LOT of force to pull the chin off. take some tweezers and yank out the membrane.

I looked for the xda member to post there link here but was unable to find it. Any have that link?

Probably not. If I need to listen to high quality audio, I'd use the headphone jack, very simple. The grill is there to keep dirt out (dirt build up will muffle the sound as well).

Even though I do think the speaker volume isn't very loud, I wouldn't remove the grill simply because you'll be letting in other unnecessary contaminants.
