Just purchased one to replace the wife's moto x play. Got it at a great price with 12 months warranty from music magpie.

I've previously had a nexus which I loved until it got unresponsive and camera issues after the later updates (Nougat).

I then had a look around the forums etc to seen plenty of bootloop and battery issues.

So as bad news travels fast in these places I'm searching for people that still have a good experience with this phone.

Mine still working great, no problems. Purchased new approx. 18 months ago on Amazon. It is US unlocked & I am using on Verizon. I am a light user & generally charge when gets to 40 or 50 percent

We had ours for over 2 yrs (lots of web surfing and social media with limited gaming and video) before it showed up. Just replaced the battery about 2 weeks ago. No more shut downs at 40%. The new battery provides full day power, but it doesn't fast charge. Truly, I believe it's inherent in all of them---just a matter of time.

it arrived yesterday morning. took about 2.5 hours to charge. it didn't come with a charger so used my huwawei mate 9 one which is a supercharger so will need to experiment with different chargers
[Update getting about 1.4mah from the chargers I have]

Anyway booted and loaded latest update 8.1, January patch.
Then loaded accu battery and lab 501 to run some tests.
From 100% used lab 501 to test
60 mins of hd battery went to 91%
60 mins of gaming went to 80%
60 mins of browsing went to 74%
Played around with phone and then did 160 mins of hd movies again went to 44%
Went bed at 43% got up at 41%
120 mins of video again to 22%
Did some browsing etc and at 15% the battery warning came on as expected.
Pushed it to 10% by which point SOT was 8hrs 43.

This was with no other apps loaded, gmail account setup, location, wifi, Bluetooth on. obviously expect a big drop once the usual push apps are installed but so far so good.

My original battery never gave me any issues (purchased from Google Nov '15). Decided to keep it after Pixel came out and replaced the original battery in July '17. Still running like new. Light-med user and get consistent 2 days of use. I try not to let it go below 30% before recharge.

Do you recharge to 100%? ACCU recommends never go above 80.

I bought one from a friend of mine a couple of months ago; I need to replace my battery because I can barely use it. I can surf for a few minutes and it shuts off. If I even dare to watch a video, it shuts off immediately. I like the phone a lot, but I have to be tethered to a charger in order to use the thing.

I recently sold my 6P but I had it for 15 months without any battery issues. AccuBattery still showed 98% battery capacity.

I still have my 6P but battery life became unreliable - it started shutting down randomly around 35% and I couldn't trust it for work anymore. Unfortunately I had started using quick charge in the car earlier last year and I think that was the reason the battery got ruined.

Update - all the missus's apps now loaded, everything left ot default (all push notifications etc, location, bluetooth and wifi on). Couple of days in and looks like she's getting around 4hr SOT.
End of the day yesterday phone was on about 50% after her normal useage which I am quite happy with.

What I hadnt banked on was the issue we are having with people hearing her in a call - I spotted it today when she called and intermittently she went very quiet - a number of people have told her this over the last few days apparently!

A quick search and I feel like I may have to send it back if it cant be fixed - couple of things I note:

- Root and disable noise cancellation - didnt want to root as keeping security updates - plus it has a warranty
- I have a niklin nature case on - I'll check this when she gets back
- put a piece of tape over the rear mic! but this affects the sound recording on videos (not good!)
- check how shes holding the phone

Anything I've missed / advice well received - thanks!!

Yup. I use the original charger that came with the phone. As soon as the battery percentage indicator shows 100% I un-plug it. I've also recharged the phone overnight but I always make sure it's OFF/SHUT-DOWN when I do. Of course you don't have to wait til it's at 100%. 80 or 90% is fine. Done that with the plugin car charger many times.

I've had lousy battery issues since last update. It's been shutting down @ 50% and less. Thus when face down @ 80% or greater and left till morning ....when woke it's dead. Like the doze feature no longer works. However from reading comments in this forum I didn't know battery can be replaced. Or have I misunderstood?

Battery can definitely be replaced. You can do it or a repair shop will charge $80-100.

I have a Nexus 6P. The phone is provided by the company I work for. Out of 6 Nexus 6P phones, I am the only one with battery issues. Or the only one with really important battery issue. Important as pretty much unusable.

It got worse every week. Now, the phone just turn off with over 70% battery left. It's acting really weird. Sometimes, it shuts down, then I'm able to restart it after a couple of minutes and it will have either around 50% battery left or 15% and lower. Really weird.

Battery still going strong on the one I got from the missus. Been quite impressed with it apart from the call issue (microphone) which I have now discovered to be a very common problem with no proper fix!
