Anyone have a camera comparison on GCam Pixel 3 on N9 vs actual Pixel 3?

I have the GCam apk on my Note 9 and was wondering how close it was to producing the results from an actual Pixel 3 camera. On paper, it sounds like the specs are the same (12 mp cameras), but I was wondering if the apk was able to reproduce a 1 for 1 of what the Pixel 3 snaps. Anyone have both phones and willing to indulge my curiosity?

There have been a few reports on YouTube and some websites. There are differences. (For example, Camera 3 doesn't do the actual night sight or HDR+, that's done by the Visual Core chip. In anything but a Pixel, it has to be done in software, and it's not done quite as well (or nearly as fast - you can shoot HDR+ rapid-fire in the Pixel, there's no software processing time involved.) It's pretty good, though. Some specific shots even look a bit better (to my taste) from the Samsung software than from Camera 3.

Thanks, Rukbat. Yeah, I saw the reviews on YouTube, but didn't come across any articles. I'm pretty impressed with it, and it's waaaaay better than stock camera portrait mode...and it also snaps pictures way faster with way less motion blur than the note 9's default shooter. I'm a novice when it comes tinkering with tech, so there's always this feeling like I'm messing something up or not fully utilizing my phone due to my lack of understanding of the inner workings...hence my deferring to these forums.

I have a T-mobile branded Note 9 and have received a number of software updates that have enhanced the camera features. The recent September update I received improved the night camera mode to the point that it surpasses my Gcam port in low light shots. This along with other improvements like the handwriting to text, ability to change S-pen ink colors, the capability to export notes to Word and the inevitable upgrade to Android 10 have helped to bolster my decision not to trade in my Note 9 for the 10+. A year later and I still enjoy this device and all it brings to the table
