Anyone know when the Official OTA GB will be out?

I've been reading all the GB threads and can't wait to get it to my phone. I don't want to root or get the leaked version though. I'm just wondering if anybody has an Idea when the Official OTA Update for gingerbread will be pushed to our phones?

Most likely it will be some time in june or july. The leaked build is mostly done, but still has a decent amount of fine tuning to be done to it.

hopefully its out well before that. if thats the case and it will be that long then im going to root my phone to GB since thats forever away lol

P3 has mentioned it will be near impossible to root the new OTA GB because of implementations carriers are taking to prevent free wireless tether and malicious exploits.If you enjoy root, do not install the OTA of GB. Give the prerooted versiona try but I warn you, I've had to SBF twice in a week using that build as it's very hairy.


To be completely honest though I enjoyed the new version of android and the new blur so much that living without root won't be so difficult but they better allowing screenshots or else I'm not going to eb a happy camper.

ive been using the pre rooted gb since its been out and ive had no issues with it at all. Some phones are just different. I also cant live without gb i love the new blur so much i am no longer on any roms. As soon as a really good gb blur rom comes out im all over it.

Yeah really! I was hoping it would be sooner than that, since everybody seems to be jumping on the leaked version and more posts are about GB than anything else lately. lol. I'm not worried about rooting, I'm not sure I want to do that yet or ever. Just sounds like gingerbread is so much faster and cooler.

Am I the only person that doesn't think the DroidX will even see it? Other than as a leak. When is DX2 out? I think they will hold on to it to make DX2 stand out more, especially if the specs for it are as bad as I've seen. It seems like more of a refresh

Doesnt mean Verizon will approved it.

But we will see...Froyo, Rooted leaked Gb or official Gb this phone its the best I had so far.

That is until I get my hand on the Bionic...

No offense, but I think you are missing the point. Anyone who paid attention to the recent release of the gingerbread leak would have known that verizon rejected the build shortly before it was leaked. Also the build date on leaked version came after the leak. So we know that motorola is still actively working on gingerbread. Also we know that most of our sources about the leak are pretty accutas they got out this version and told us that it will take about a month longer. June or July release predictions sound absolutely ridiculous.

In all honesty, I LOVE my X and really enjoy the forum discussions. But take a look at the threads these days ... all GB. Those of us who are being "good" and waiting for the OTA are being severely penalized ... essentially shut out of X discussions. There's something wrong with this picture.

I agree with you Arelunde, It was suprising to me that now the first two pages are all about GB, even the Rooting and ROMs thread. Alot of them could be combined I'm sure as some of our questions, topics, etc are basically the same. It blew up so fast, and ofc alot of us ran into problems getting GB build and are asking, replying, putting down thoughts, etc. Then someone comes out with a theme and that starts another whole section of issues(I'm in that group). I apologize for being part of the reason u are feeling shut out as your one waiting for the OTA. If it helps, if I ever get my sbf issue solved and go back to stock, I'm gona leave it that way until the GB OTA comes out, then root again.

I have flashed 4 versions without a hiccup. Everything works great for me. Because this build was approved by Motorola, it is very stable. Anyone flashing please follow instructions at MDW to a T. Use D2 bootstrap as well, regardless of others having success with Xstrap. The official one would br soon or none at all. EOL is upon us X owners.

How exactly are you being shut out of discussions? Are you not capable of beginning your own discussions and topics on a host of themes you find interesting?

never said it did lol. But because the EOL is upon us, GB will happen soon, or never. Very unusual for a device a 1/4 to 1/2 year past EOL to get OS upgrades not being a nexus.
