anyone move from thunderbolt to razr maxx?

There are videos showing how easy it is to change the battery. And the battery should last 2 years anyways.

The key word is "SHOULD" last 2 years. Each person has to make their own determination if they're ok with taking the risk assuming the battery will last that long and if it doesn't either sending it in to get it replaced or trying to do it yourself (which voids the warranty if still within the warranty period).

Here's a video of a tear down of a RAZR. At a minimum, to replace the battery, you need a case opening tool and a T3 and T5 torx drivers. I consider myself very mechanically inclined, but even so would not be comfortable attempting that. There?s just too much potential to break something. And obviously it?s not as easy as phone's designed with user replaceable batteries. :)

I consider it a pretty easy fix. Anyways, I'd rather not carry around a Ziploc bag of batteries, or have my phone have a huge hump. Thunderbolt is a freaking fantastic phone with terrible battery life.

Well here's what I can say:

Fast 4G of the thunderbolt. Fast phone speeds, since it's a dual core 1.2ghz TI OMAP processor. And lastly do allllll you want with it cause you got 3300mah of power.

Yep, it's pretty awesome.

You also have the nexus, and with extended 2100mah battery it's not too bad.

LMAO... what a funny read!!! And to say "locked bootloader"... who cares... the Thunderbolt had a locked bootloader when I purchased it on day one... and I was still able to root the Thunderbolt!!! And I can root the Razr Maxx right now if I want to as well.

And another comment about you having an extended battery in the Thunderbolt... LOL!!! Ya, but in the Maxx I don't have that big ugly hump... sorry, but the TB with the extended battery looks like a totally different creature... may the Hunchback of Notre-Dame.

And just up two posts... the Thunderbolt was available on a ONE year contract when it was first released, before Verizon took that away and only allowed TWO year contracts... and if you bought the Thunderbolt on day one you could have upgraded to the Maxx on subsidized price as of Jan 17th, which I was... then I just had to wait for the Maxx to come out a week or so later.

Now don't get me wrong... I loved my Thunderbolt, and having it rooted and running BAMF Forever 1.11 with 3++ kernel was great at the end... and I was able to get pretty good battery life from it, but I was always concerned with battery life... and even today with the Maxx I'm still looking at battery life when I don't really have to anymore. I've pushed the Maxx and played games for hour late in the day and still plug it in every night, but have not seen anything below 60% battery life after a full day.

Pro's: Better radio, much better battery life, dual core device, no lag, and a fairly nice clean UI... it does take some getting used to for the MotoBlur coming from a couple different versions of Sense I've seen over the last couple years... but I've seen a lot of different looks being rooted with CM7 and other AOSP ROMs... so I have a few nice Widgets that work well on the Maxx.

Con's: Display could be better, but coming from the Thunderbolt, the Maxx is still much better than the TB... and no Sense widgets.

The no Sense widget's is minor in my eyes, since I was looking to see who had the best device... and would have gone with the Galaxy Nexus if they did not have so many issues (battery life, radio, and numerous ROM updates in the pipeline to fix the first version of a new ROM), and the face unlock gimmick.

Thanks for explaining;

I was hoping there was some other option, I know a while back if you complained enough they were swapping Thunderbolts for Charges, I was hoping there was something along those lines...

I am on a two-year contract, and for curiosity, and for the possibility of getting upgraded sooner, I asked if I was eligible for an upgrade with all my issues I have had in the past (pre-root).
I talked to a few people, and one person was really helpful, she was the only one to admit the issues with the T-Bolt she has seen, and didn't blame me. She was going to ask her manager to see if I could get a Razr, she left me a vm last night saying she was going to call me today and offer me a refurbed Razor as an early upgrade (she was going to see if a new Razr--not Maxx, she said they wouldn't offer that, but she obviously couldn't swing even the new Razr). I am obviously going to say no.
I will see what happens down the line, I might even break my contract early (I hate contracts, and maybe one of the pre-paid carriers will get a good Android phone), otherwise I also want to be on a GSM int'l capable carrier, so T-Mo is an option. We'll see. My ETF is about $110 lower according to VZW, but I really don't want to pay that, and my BAMF T-Bolt is fine, still glitches, but ok.
One other CSR was only giving me the company line about how the Thunderbolt is fine now, and was going to offer me a refurbed Bolt, I knew that wasn't going to help, and why give up my new for a refurbed unit.
The one who is supposed to call me back was really helpful.

Got my Maxx yesterday. Some tweaks yet to be accomplished. Only disappointment is I didn't realize I'd be loosing the FM radio. I only use it to tune in to the overhead TVs at the gym though. Can't use internet radio for that.

I got the maxx a couple days ago. I love it, but when I pick it up I almost throw it over my shoulder for the lightness compared to my extended battery TB. My rooted TB was lovingly handed down, as I always get the new toys in the house :D
The only reason for the new purchase was the old Droid2 was showing some wear, so in comes a TB to replace.
I haven't noticed a "better" battery life over the extended in the TB (I still need more time to evaluate), but this is the first phone in a longgggg time that I haven't had to purchase an extended battery from the get.
I am still using adw launcher as I was using on my AOSP rom'd TB. The maxx does seem to be faster though.

I moved on to the Razr and my battery life is as good as it was with the tbolt w/extended battery. I kinda wish I waited a while longer for the maxx, just to know how it feels to last a whole day without having to charge a fone between the hours of 9 A.M. - 5 P.M.
