May 2020 and still using the nexus 6. It's been an amazing phone and still runs fantastic.

I have recently noticed though, that occasionally the phone switches off when I try to use the camera and the battery is around 50%.

I've had it pretty much since launch so it's services me well.

This time around I'm looking for a budget android phone.

Can anyone recommend a good phone in the budget range?

Welcome to Android Central! You've come to the right place - we are all about phones and love upgrading conversations!

Wow! The Nexus 6! That was an AMAZING device! I had the Nexus 5 and loved it.

Since you really liked your Nexus 6, you could definitely get your hands on a Google Pixel 3a for less money. It's an awesome mid-range equivalent to the Google Pixel 3.

The 3a still has an awesome camera and a very similar performance to its big brother. I was actually going to buy it last year. It's close to stock Android and it may give you a similar experience to your Nexus 6 - just with a few more bells and whistles.

Let us know what you decide! :)

Welcome to Android Central! I agree, the Pixel 3a or 3a XL would seem like the logical choice (or wait a little longer to see what the 4a is like).

I went with the Motorola one macro.

It's on the lower end of the price.

I'm very happy with it. It feels like a big upgrade after having a 6 year old phone.

I will be keeping an eye on the new pixel phones that are released later this year though!

I'll echo the P3a or P3aXL. If you decide to wait a bit, there will be amazing deals on the P3a line when the P4a is launched, or you might consider a P4a, given the rumored pricing. You won't go wrong with either.

That's so awesome! So glad you are liking it! And thank you for letting us know what you decided - I love finding out what phones people decide to purchase! :)

Since you have the Nexus 6 and obviously love it, the way to go would absolutely be the Pixel 3aXL. That is exactly what I'm doing for my mother, who also has a Google Nexus 6 with 64gb.
