Anyone use alcohol prep swabs to clean the Evo?

Here is an example of the disposible eye glass wipes that are available at any drug store or big box mart. I'm sure these are very safe for glass and optical coatings. They do a great job. And because they are disposible you aren't going to grind unscene particles into your screen when trying to reuse a microfiber cloth.

These are the bausch and lomb version. I found a different brand at walmart and they were pretty inexpensive. They came in a huge box so I've had them for a year or two now. It was probably 100 - 200 wipes. I don't remember what they cost but they weren't much. Maybe $6 or $8.

They are also great to leave in your car for cleaning your sunglasses.

1. it's impractical, expensive, and silly to buy and use disposable wipes IMO.
2. i believe a clean microfiber cloth with lens spray is safer, cheaper, more practical, better for the environment, less of a PIA, and does a better job.
3. wash the microfiber cloth once a month or if it gets excessively dirty and you will have no problems.

i just went to best buy and purchased a camera cloth micro fiber or whatever you call it. in the camera section. costs about 5 bucks.

I used those wipes for a year on my pre, got it nice and clean and never scratched. I usually just grabbed a handful of em whenever I would leave a restaurant that had them or the eyeglass store whenever I bought a new set of glasses.

Never noticed any sideeffects.

Just go by your self a bottle of isopropyl alcohol, its the same thing company's like zagg use because it drys clear and fast and will not harm any electronics

What are your thoughts on ammonia free glass cleaner? I used that on my pre but I have not used anything on my EVO yet other than a microfilm cloth.

Here's what the User Guide says in regards to caring for your EVO. Some of them are kind of funny:

  • Unplug the product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a damp cloth for cleaning, but NEVER use water to clean the LCD screen.
  • Always treat your phone and its accessories with care and keep them in a clean and dust-free place.
  • Do not expose your phone or its accessories to open flames or lit tobacco products.
  • Do not expose your phone or its accessories to liquid, moisture or high humidity.
  • Do not drop, throw or try to bend your phone or its accessories.
  • Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or aerosols to clean the device or its accessories.
  • Do not paint your phone or its accessories.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble your phone or its accessories, only authorized personnel must do so.
  • Do not expose your phone or its accessories to extreme temperatures, minimum -4?F (-20?C) and maximum 122?F (50?C)
  • Please check local regulations for disposal of electronic products.
  • Do not carry your phone in your back pocket as it could break when you sit down.

IMO use only lens cleaner or a tiny drop of water on the microfiber cloth to make it slightly damp.

ZAGG has a new product called ZAGG Foam... Got some with my Pre and loved it.. The kit comes with a small can of the stuff and a cloth. Its a great cleaner and it says its antibacterial too. I now use it on my laptop and NAV in my truck as well as my EVO.
