i noticed it doesn't require or use superuser ap..

which is better? gizmodo or the method here on the forums?

You will have to use the Revolutionary Method. The one in the guide you posted is outed. If you notice the date it was back in the summer of 2010.

You don't have to install the superuser app if you are going to to flash a custom rom once you root, unless you are planing to use Rom Manager to flash a rom. All customs roms have it. It's just for those that will stay on the stock rom.
