I am curious how does it play on a large screen HDTV? Can it play all the functions on the phone in 720p on an HD screen? If I heard it right this is the only connection that does not force the tethering plan?

All you get with a regular HDMI cable is the entertainment mode. You can play music, vids and pics. That's it, no webtop.

I tried hooking it up to my monitor (which has HDMI) but nothing happened. I hit "entertainment center" and was no signal on the HDMI port on the monitor. The Atrix should the "entertainment center" app, but it looked like it was just doing music and no pictures.

The "Entertainment Center" app only lets you display pictures and play music+video over the HDMI. You can't actually *use* anything other than the media.

So to use Webtop pay up 45 big ones each month first?

I can understand ATT wants to charge $45 for a ridiculously little 4GB of data, but why not allow us to use Webtop on a wifi network with the minimum $15 data plan?

My laptop dock works over wifi. I dont have the tethering plan.

I was under the impression once the docks are in use, ATT will force you to get the $45 plan. If not I will get this phone and the HD dock. Anyone confirmed with ATT?

When I try to use the laptop dock over 3g, it says I need the proper data plan and shows a shortcut to wifi.

Ok I take that as ATT saying we can use WiFi only if we don't have the $45 plan but we will not be forced to have the $45 plan.
