I received mine today January 8th. Obsiously I'm excited cause it's a great device but so far I love it. It's big but very comfortable to hold in hand and the display is very nice for an LCD. I'll report back in a few days for a review

Now! I tried posting it awhile ago but I was working and every time I was almost done for some reason everything I had written was deleted so I gave up lol. But here we go.


I got the twilight version of the mate 20. I have to admit that at first I wasnt impressed with the color, it looked different than I thought it would I don't know how to explain it. But after a few days I fell in love with the color. It's so slick looking and I like how the color shifts at angles. Only drawback is that it's such a fingerprint magnet.

The design of the phone Is absolutely beautiful. Yes it's a big phone but it has to be one of the most comfortable big phones to hold out there. The bezels are thin all around, it's not too thick not too heavy either. I feel like it has a great weight distribution and it really feels good in the hand (ladies you know the procedures.. ). The buttons are very good especially the textured and colored power button, feels great. The fingerprint scanner is exactly where it should be and it's as fast as any Huawei fingerprint scanner.


The display is great for an lcd. When I first booted the phone up I was like this looks like an OLED display. Colors are vibrant, it's more than sharp enough although you will notice the difference when you put it next to something sharper like a note 9 or something, same how's with the saturation. But it's still a great display and I have zero complains.


Performance....man this phone FLIESSSSSSSSS!!!!!! Seriously, I came from a OnePlus 6T and this one is a bit faster and that is saying a lot. Not only that but this is the smoothest Android phone I've used to date. It does not stutter ever. Not even micro stutters. The 6T does have micro stutter (and you have to be picky to notice these things), this one NEVER EVER stutters. I'm really amazed considering emui is a fairly heavy skin but this thing does not skills a bit and is very fast. I have the 4gb of ram version and it still flies. Performance is honestly 10/10, Huawei killed it.


Battery life....that's another thing. Battery life is amazing. Now I drive for Uber so I have GPS and the Uber app constantly running so that kills the phone battery life, no matter how good the battery of a phone is. But I did Uber with the iPhone x and the 6t and this one lasts longer without me having it to charge. Battery life is excellent and it charges really fast. A tad bit faster than the 6T. Honestly battery life is something not to worry about here, it just goes and goes.


I like emui, it's feature packed like Samsung and it also has themes. Of course this is subjective as many prefer stock Android or oxygen os but I like this one a lot. I do prefer oxygen os though not gonna lie. But this is great.


As far as cameras goes I don't really take much pictures but I do like the design of the square camera module in the back, I think that alone counts for 60% of the awesome design of the phone. As far as picture quality I think it looks great but the exposure could be better. It's a good, versatile camera with the 3 angles but it's definitely not the best.


The speaker is weird. Sometimes it's fantastic and sometimes it's just too low. I guess it depends what content you're playing. Some YouTube videos are low but yesterday I was streaming the Patriots vs Chiefs game and it was so loud and clear. It gets the job done but again there's better and more consistent speakers out there.


I don't use the headphone jack, I have airpods and they work perfectly. Sound is great although not as loud as it was on my iPhone X or my 6T for that matter. Bluetooth works fine.


Overall this phone is REALLY great. This is one of the most underrated phones of 2018 and that is mainly because of it's sibling, the mate 20 pro which is higher spec 'ed and all. But I would argue that this is a better value. The pro version costs $1000 but you can get this one for nearly half the price but almost as good. My favorite things about this phone is the 3 things: 1, the performance, it's unmatched for real, it's butter and blistering fast. 2, battery life is excellent and worry free. 3, the display and real estate you have on the phone. It's fun to type on and watch content. I'd give this phone a score of 8.7/10. I think the exposure in the camera could be better and the speaker could be more consistent. Otherwise this phone is a major win. Cheers!!!!
