Anyone using WD Photos with success?

I got a WD 3Tb drive and am trying to access the photos using WD Photos on my phone. It doesn't show all of the photos and rescans are varying with number of photos. I'm now on my second (replacement) drive but still have the same problem. The WD user forums show that others have had this problem for a couple of years. WD Support hasn't really been much help - many suggestions but no solutions.
