Anyone worried about 'Motorola Fighter'?

Those leaked shots of the new Verizon phone (supposedly dubbed "Motorola Fighter") have me worried that my new RAZR might just go to waste. If this ships with ICS, which it's lack of capacitive buttons seems to indicate, will it render our phones obsolete? Or am I irrationally worried? Any thoughts are welcome.

Your phone won't be obsolete. It just won't be at the top of the totem pole anymore, and probably won't get an ics update until after the 'fighter' releases.

Personally, I'm not sweating over the ICS update. My phone works. No issues. No bugs. ICS will get to the RAZR/RAZR MAXX when it does.

Now if I was still on Cupcake 1.5 or Donut 1.6... then I'd be sweating... LMAO!!!

I'm not worried about the Fighter too much. The RAZR was released back in November, so it was just a matter of time before something else stepped into the limelight. I'm still happy I got the RAZR back in the fall, and I'm excited to see what's in store for the end of the year. Those Intel chips are on the horizon, after all.

I don't care about ICS and as far as the freighter is concerned, there is always going to be something else right around the corner. Just the nature of tech.

If this is the first we're hearing/seeing of it, we probably don't have to worry about it coming out til sometime this summer anyway (I'll say June as my guess, to try and jump-start the '3rd quarter lag'). But, I bet the phone will just be the Razr Maxx with a larger screen (Razr SupaMaxx maybe? I should TM the name before Moto steals it). I'd assume we would see the Razr/Maxx with an HD screen first, and that could sneak in at any point (as it already exists overseas, and wouldn't be difficult to keep quiet as the Maxx was).

And in this day and age of cell phones, where the newest and greatest is just months away, older models 'going to waste' is unavoidable, but 'waste' is relative. I had a DInc and love the phone, even still. It was a very good/solid phone and performed quite well.

As long as we can keep flashing new custom ROMs, we'll be in great shape. The only major change seems to be the soft keys vice the capacitive buttons. I tried them on my ICS builds I've been playing with. Not a game changer for me.

Nope. The Razr Maxx was the best phone for me when I was looking to upgrade. Unless you're ready to buy a new phone every quarter, you should accept that something better will come along sooner rather than later.

The RAZR is as big a phone as I would want to carry. I can barely operate it with one hand and most of the time I use two hands. (no comments). Funny how smaller was the big thing now it is larger screens?

Welcome to the world of Motorola. Now you know how the Bionic owners felt when the RAZR came out a couple of months after the Bionic.

In my opinion Motorola has little interest in the supporting their existing customers and handsets. Their focus at this point is to churn out phone after phone.

Didn't Motorola also say they were going slow down on releasing new phones this year?

Some of these 'handhelds' are frankly getting out of hand. Yeah, some people like em, keeping up with the latest 'must have' device. I just acquired my Photon Saturday, because it is was the best fit across the board for my uses. I wouldn't want one of these 'phablets' they're just too big to be pocket carried comfortably.

I guess it takes all types.

There wasn't a quarter between the release of the RAZR and the Bionic. There also wasn't a quarter between the RAZR and the Maxx.

The RAZR rocks. I'll use it until the end of the year, if not longer.

Better battery life will have me looking for a new phone. That and hopefully an FM Radio...lol. I see myself with either the RAZR I have now or the Maxx IF battery life isnt better on newer phones.

Like in the PC world...I didnt get on the dual core bandwagon until after quad core came out. I'm still waiting for my first quad core PC. That should tell you where my head is at. I slipped up when the G Nex and Rezound came out...and it taught me a lesson...

If the world of Motorola means excellent reception and battery life....I wanna stay in this world... They could release a phone every week and it wouldnt matter to me as long as my wants n needs are being met.
