Anyway to close tasks with task killer?

I just got my HTC EVO today, coming from a Palm Pre. And I was playing music with it, and tried to close the music and Pandora apps, but the only way that you can close them is if you use the task killer.

Is there any easier way to close the music or pandora player, or anything that will make sounds in the background?

I tried to press the home button and the menu, to see if there was a "Quit" button, but couldn't find it.

Sorry I meant "Anyway to close tasks WITHOUT task killer?"

For apps like music players, just pause/stop the music when you want to stop listening and Back your way out of the app or press Home. It's the same for most things, really; if you won't be using something, just Back out of it and it'll put itself in the background as an inactive app.

That's the thing with Android, you don't really need to worry about closing things to save memory. If you have heaps of RAM left, the app will be suspended in the background and load instantly when you want it next time. If you then run something that needs more RAM, Android will systematically close other apps one by one, starting with the ones you haven't used for the longest amount of time.

But yeah, just stop the music and hit Back, really.

Also, some apps will have a "quit" or "exit" option when you hit menu. The one that comes to mind off the top of my head is Google Maps Navigation.

^ This.

It's yet another variation of the ever-popular "How do I close apps?" question. The dead horse decomposed long ago and there's nothing left to beat.

As always, don't assume that Android works like your former device.
