I've heard some say it works, but from my experience with CM7 rc1.2 it did not work... it's the primary reason I'm on Liquid Thunderbread.
Theres only one way to find out. Rooting now and then will flash cm7

Apparently, you can fix the GPS issue in AOSP ROMs (in a really roundabout way), by flashing the AOSP ROM, trying to lock your GPS, reverting back to a sense ROM, actually locking your GPS, then reverting back to your AOSP ROM.
Its a pain in the ass I know ...
Liquid looks like he incorporated a fix into LTB, that is why it is working there.
What are the differences between aosep roms.

There is not much difference between different AOSP ROMs. The biggest difference between CM7 and Liquid Thunderbread... at least IMHO is that CM7 includes ADW launcher and Liquid includes LauncherPro... they have to have some launcher... other than that it's minor little programs they include... they will both have something that allows you to tweak thinks. I really like Liquid's option under settings "Liquid Settings" allowing people to change things like the removing the clock from the top notification, and the battery to a number, or colors of the battery number... they both have the ability to overclock (if you know what you are doing).
You just have to find out which one you like if you want to go with a AOSP ROM. The great thing is we can easily try one.
