hey have you installed this onto your droid x?

[ROM] ApeX 1.2 Series for Droid X - Functionality and Performance (11/29/10) - Android Forums

if so.. how can i install it on mine? im scared i might get my phone bricked ;/

this was what i was planning on doing

-installing the rom from my phone via the website
-going to bootsrap recovery and click bootsrap
-go to rom manager and backup current rom
-from rom manager find the apex 1.2 and install it from there
-from here do i need to click wpe all data and chache? or what? and is there any steps im missing? im currently backing up my current rom via rom manager, is this considered a nandroid backup?

thank you so much if you help me ;)

I'm not sure why everyone uses rom manager.. you don't need it.
just bootstrap the phone, put the rom on your sd card and reboot into recovery.
you can do everything from there.
backup, wipe and install.
apex 1.2 is excellent!

If using rom manager you don't need to dl from site. Yes your steps are good. Wipe both and install. Make sure you dl and use the correct one for your system. If on ota its 1.0.2.2

and the thing failed because i forgot to unzip the foler and now its not recognizing my SD card!! :((

ok i got an sd card error but i went back to one of my backups and now it recognizes the sd card? is the problem fixed?

like i said.. not sure why people use rom manager..
I think it's flaky. at least it is for me.
I prefer to do things the manual why, and you should to.

you shouldn't be scare of your phone.
do it the manual way, so you know what you are doing and where everything is and how it's getting done.

download the rom from one of the great android forums to your pc/laptop
put your phone into usb mass storage mode and then open it that drive up on your pc
make a folder called "roms"
and copy the rom (rom.zip - whatever it's called) to that folder.
go to your app drawer and launch koush's bootstrapper (which you should have installed)
click to bootstrap (just to be safe)
and then reboot.
this will put you in to clockwork recovery mode
go down to mounts and mount system
then go to backup and backup your system
come back to mounts and make sure system, data and cache are all mounted, if not, mount them again.
then format each of them
and then remount them. (VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU REMOUNT)
then go back to install from zip. navigate down to your roms folder and pick the rom.
it will install.. once done reboot.

some of those steps may be redundant, but it will work 100% of the time every single time..
i have 2 DX's and do those steps several times a week.

in the start, i had to SBF several times.. but not any more.
i know what I'm doing, i know how these things install.

some people don't like to have to re-setup there phones so they don't want to wipe data, but if you switch/test roms allot or themes, you are asking for trouble.
just make backups of your apps..
and really the only thing you have to do is re-setup your home screen's and accounts..

sometimes doing it the easy way (rom mgr, etc) prevents you from understanding how stuff works.. so do it the manual way and soon, you'll know exactly how this is done and it will be as easy to you as it is me.

Wow thanks! But I alreay installed th apex rom and my sd card is working fine
