I recently upgraded to Froyo (2.2) and rooted my captivate. Since I'm on a 200mb a month data plan I downloaded an APN widget to turnoff the APN whenever I'm not using the phone. For some reason apps are using APN in the background eating up my data plan. The APN widget simply changes the APN settings on the phone (I've since realized I don't really need the widget since its nothing more than a shortcut). However, now when APN is re-enabled, it does not turn on. Under the ATT WAP settings (in Settings - Wireless and Network - Mobile Network Settings - Access Point Names) it says wap.cingular[disabled]. All entries under the access point settings are correct...however even when turned on, its disabled.

I'm assuming I made a permanent change after I "rooted" the phone. Can someone direct me as to how to truely "re-enable" the APN settings?

Have you tried going into the APN Names, pressing menu and then reset to defaults?

How did I not see that!!!!!!!!! If it was a snake, it would have bit me! I usually don't struggle like this. That worked. Thank you ls377!

I'm sold. However, I'm new to the flashing...rooting...world. I have Titanium Backup install (not the paid version) what do you need to know to upgrade to Serendipity 6.2? Also, your article mentioned "updates"....are you referring to Serendipity updates...and are they automatic? Sorry for badgering you...but, when I find someone of you knowledge I'm relentless to learn more.

This thread should have everything you need. As for updates, they install like the ROM itself. The devs have an "update" version most of the time, so you won't have to wipe your data. If you have any more questions, fire away!
