I'm looking for an app recommendation. I am looking for an app that would play/pause playback of my media (songs, audiobooks) by flipping the phone screen over. Then reversing the flip would reverse the action.

Has anyone heard of anything making this possible? I tried one gesture app but it didn't work at all.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

I know you can do a lot with Tasker and it can recognize sensor inputs. If you go to Tasker online I think you can still get a full trial version. There's a bit of a learning curve but there are tons of places online with groups where you can ask questions, post your own profiles and look at other user submitted profiles. There may be a profile already created for this action because it seems simple and like something others might be interested in. I say this because I've seen other action requests for things that way too specific reducing the odds of anyone else having a similar need. I mean there aren't a lot of people looking for a notification from their refrigerator every time they drive past the Kwiki mart on Wednesday when they have Bluetooth connected to their tab, but turning music on and off, there's probably one of those.

You could go looking for profiles before looking at the app. Taskerwiki, XDA has Tasker threads, AC has some but I think the last time I looked there weren't too many posting there, and just about every other Android forum I've found has Tasker threads. I'd start at the wiki.

Have you tried the in-built "Modes and Routines" functionality? I haven't played with it, but it looks to be able to do most of the things Tasker is/was used for. And it is natively built into the phone already.

Here is an Audiobook app that I use:

The reason I use this one is that it's no-frills and just works.

The developer is VERY responsive and willing to add features that will make the listening experience better, so I am sure he'll add this feature if you talk to him about it and are willing to test for him.

I've seriously been using this app since KitKat and the ONLY reason I use anything else is because it's Audible. :P

OMG I just found this app about a week ago and have been using it currently for my listening. I'll reach out!

Seriously, this is the only and best AudioBook player out there (I only use Audible because I have a subscription, but I have a library of over 250+ AudioBooks I have collected over the years) for personal libraries.

You won't believe this! The dev responded! It's already built into the app on the full version! I of course bought it and said thank you! Once you enable the toggle, turn the phone face down and playback stops. Turn the phone right side up again and play back resumes. It's amazing. Thank you so much for the recommendation and your help. I wish this feature would work on all my music player apps.

Sorry, but I don't understand what app you are using. When I click the link you posted, it just takes me to Android Central forums. Can you tell us the name of the app?

I don't know what it's doing to you, but the link works, here is what it looks like in the Play Store:

Thanks, I went and found it after you named it. For some reason, the link just takes me to the Android Central Forums... weird, but I don't care since you gave me the name. I put it in my Play Store wishlist, and I will check it out down the road.

The free version is pretty full featured.

Regardless, MORE than worth the small cost to support the dev and get a few more features.
