App Market problems?

First off, I apologize if I sound like an idiot. This is my very first smart phone so I am a bit uneducated.

That having been said, I am connected to AT&Ts network, and can browse apps in the market, but every time i try to download one it just says "failure to download, please try again."

Is there some obvious thing I forgot to do to enable downloading apps? Help?

I've heard this can be resolved by doing the following:

Open Settings.
Select Applications.
Select Manage Applications.
Select Market.
Select Clear cache.
Press the back button (takes you back to list of installed applications)
Select Download Manager.
Select Clear data.
You should now be able to download successfully from the Market.

I tried, but unfortunately that didn't work. =( Thanks, though!

Is there something at initial start up of the phone that I have to do to enable the market? Or should it work automatically?

This same exact thing happened to my first atrix. While at the at&t store,i tried downloading apps got the same error. The at&t salesman called tech support and they made him try a bunch of different things, all failed. I suggested to him the steps above, he tried those and it failed. Finally, at&t support said "there is nothing more we can do". So he went and got another atrix and that one works fine. I would just go and exchange it.
