I think I'm having a stupid moment as I can't figure out how to do the app pairing. How does this work?

From the apps edge, click the plus to add and on the top right you'll see the option to create app pair

It would have been so much more utilized if it could be done elsewhere - my impression is most folks aren't keen on the edge applications

I go the edge route just so I can behold the wondrous display and such

Honestly, it's ridiculously easy, slide over the edge panel and it's one touch. It probably takes less than a second

If I had to pick- on the home screen or in the Apps Edge for app pairs, I'd go edge every time as it's accessible from whatever app I'm in.

First, what is App Pair and second i was one who was not sure if i would like the edge panel, but i really do. if the samsung ui allowed for a scrolling dock my home screen would be blank.

It allows you to open up two apps at a time. For example, the phone on top half, and your calendar on the bottom half so you can make a calendar entry while talking on the phone. If you want it, then follow instructions in Post 2 of this thread.
It's a nice feature.

So can you only do this for one pair? I have my budget program and calculator together which is so great after years of going out of one and into the other and then back I adore this feature, but seems like you can only do it for one pair. Anybody know for sure if thats true. or am I doing something wrong?

No. You can do it for as many as 10 pairs. That's how many spaces you have on the apps edge.
