App Pairing

Once you're in App Pairing, how do you get out of it and only work with one of the apps? If you press the home button, the pair gets minimized. You can close the pair from the notification panel then go back to the app you want. That seems like too many steps. Ideally I would like to be able to swipe away one of the apps.

Holding down that button doesn't do anything for me except bringing recent apps in the app screen I was last working in. Just to be clear in what I'm trying to do, I have an app pair button already set in the Edge screen for Google Sheets and Calculator. Once I'm done working with the pair I would like to close off the calculator screen and work only in Sheets. Actually, I just figured it out. You have to drag the divider in the middle to make the app you want full screen.

Is there any way to put a paired-app shortcut on the home screen, or are they only possible in the edge panel?
