Is their an app that'll allow me to if i plug my inc into my desktop i can type a sms and send it?

Use Gmail? Turn on Labs and try the SMS in Chat and the Text Messaging (SMS) plugins (you need both). There are daily limits, but you can send texts to any domestic number. They go through Gmail, not your Verizon account or phone.

I know this thread hasn't been touched in a while. just wanted to get some opinions on these different apps? I have been using the method that revolutionary mentioned for along time now. few things i don't like about it.
1. for some reason it confuses people because the sms comes from a random number, even though it says my email address on it as the signature
2. if you send a sms, sign out of gmail from your desktop, and then someone responds, the response is always delayed to me, like 10 mins. so sometimes people will respond to an important text that i sent but i won't be notified till much later if i am signed out of gchat.

i have been using google voice instead for quite sometime now. with the chrome extension and integration of all my contacts, its been really handy. i still get those people that are confused on why i send out a sms from a different number during the day. I would just switch to this number permanently but it will cause a few other problems.
1. Yes i still have friends with dumbphones that have to send me a MMS to send a video or picture. google voice cannot send or receive those. though it would be nice to save $20/month on unlimited texting.
2. my verizon friends will think they are calling me for free using mobile to mobile minutes, but in fact it won't be free since they would be dialing my google voice number. though for me it would be free since technically their number is showing up on my caller ID.

So I read about Texdro and have been using that this morning. seems to work well. i like how it has the option to mark the SMS message as read on my phone while using this app and it disables my notification sounds on my phone temporarily too. interface is plain but functional. i did have an issue while trying to send a sms and receiving a phone call at the same time. but you would think it would still work since you can send an SMS while on a phone call.

so I am wondering if anyone has tried SMS2PC or LOOK SMS? any comments on those? I also heard PDANET (free or paid) has a desktop instant message app that can be used to send out an SMS from your computer. figured i would get some opinions before going through each app this week.
