Question app to change ringback tone

I've been trying to change the ringback tone on my phone but there's no setting for it

I tried this app but it doesn't do as I expected

I've always thought ringback tones are something provided by your carrier and not an app that you can install on a device. Consider that your app would have to perform actions on someone else's device, not possible.

In the meantime I looked this up and it looks like there is a way to perform some kind of call forwarding to achieve a ringback tone.

Search YouTube for more but here's the first one that popped up for me...

The only real way to do it would be route your calls through a third party service or your provider if they offer it. And I do not know of any providers that still do it. I'm living in the year 2032, maybe back in 2000 a carrier provided it.

Anyway forwarding through a subscription service opens you and your caller up to snooping and recording.
