app update on sd card not working

Hi. I've transferred some apps to the sd card to save on phone memory, but when the apps are updating, it states unable to update. Is there a way of updating without me having to move the apps back and forth from the phone to the card. Cheers Rob.

Android is designed to use the SD card to store data, the SD card was never intended to run apps from. There's no guarantee that any given app can be moved to the SD card, that if it can be it'll work there or if it works there, it can be updated there. Once you run an app from the SD card, you're on your own.

If you want to rewrite the ROM, you can use the SD card as internal memory, and if your SD card is larger than your internal ROM, you'll gain space. But that's about the only way of guaranteeing that an app will run properly from the SD card. (And SD cards don't use the same pattern of storage as an internal SSD (which is basically what internal storage is), so you'd better have everything backed up all the time - because when the SD card fails - when, not if - if something isn't backed up, it's gone forever.
