App updates - not being notified

Not sure why, but I'm not getting notifications when I have app updates that are available. I have notifications set up in the Google Play Store, but notifications seem to be non existent. I go into the Google Play Store and find that I have a bunch of app updates waiting but there was never a notification!

I have the same problem on both my S10+ and my Pixel 4a 5G. I go into the play store and have sometimes 35 apps to update. I dunno why it doesn't push the notifications.

I typically have to do the same thing, in terms of manually going into the Google Playstore, with my unlocked S21 Ultra. Figure it has to do more with the Spectrum Mobile network than my phone, but not sure.

As I recall, I had the same issue when I was on iOS. Notifications never pushed for app updates or software updates, even if you had it set up that way. Seems odd that this is normal for both Android and Apple (to NOT get push notifications for app/software updates).

Wonder what the deal is when it comes to app updates and software updates, not getting push notifications?? Is this by design from Samsung somehow, or is this some kind of bug that they've never been able to fix.

True I don't see a notification on my iPhone 11 pro.

Software updates I got notification on S21 Ultra. For example today morning when I woke up April security update was waiting and didn't have to check manually for software updates. Not sure if that's what you meant by not getting notified of software update.

For the app updates in play store, I'm guessing they have some threshold on when to send notification that app updates are available. It's probably a feature that they don't want to keep notify every time update is available. I remember seeing app updates available from galaxy store since I never use that store and I get notified to update some Samsung apps. I think play store also if you don't use it long enough to check updates, I believe eventually it should pop up?

I still don't get notifications for the updates. But when I go and attempt to update the apps manually, I see a list of updates that had been updated recently that I did not update manually.

Well that's interesting ... If Google/Samsung doesn't want to push these notifications, why is there an option to turn them on/off? I don't get it.
