Is there any way to add applications to the applications folder? On Sprint there are 3 folders in the applications, Google, Microsoft, & Social. All of Google apps are already in the Google folder, same with Microsoft. In the Social folder are Instagram & Messenger. The apps only appear in the folders, and I would like to add Facebook and Tumbler.

I'm trying to figure out what you are asking Mark. Do you want the shortcuts to the apps out of the folders, do you want to add the icons into the folders, or do you want to create folders on your own? Before we start this process there are some that will not be limited or restricted to just a folder.. You can't move the phone icon for example into a folder. So here goes:

1. If you open up the folder and hold down the icon (Skype from Microsoft Folder for example) you may move it anywhere you want. On your home screen, on the second page, or have it alphabetical in your app listings. I believe you may even drag the Skype icon to the remove trashcan, not sure sometimes you can sometimes you can't it depends on the folder and the app)

2. You can also move any icon into a folder that is already preloaded (Samsung, Microsoft, AT&T if carrier, Google) by dragging it there until the folder lights up same way you would if you were dragging it to the trash can. At that point if it's still on your home screen you can remove it and it will still stay in the folder. There is a big difference as I found out between "Remove" and "Uninstall"

3. If you want you obviously can move any folder you want And move it anywhere you want with any of the apps By dragging them (like Flixster) on top of another app (example Pandora) and you will create a folder that you could call "Entertainment". You could even change the color of that folder and move that folder anywhere you want.

I hope this helps and if not, be a little more specific and I'm sure someone will chime in.

I would like to add Facebook and Tumbler.
Since this is what you want to do I'm going to try to make it easy. You can have technically the Facebook "F" logo in three different places. In the "Social" folder, in the general big list of applications a through Z., and right on your homepage by of the phone, calendar, wherever. Drag them there or take them up to the top and remove them.

When I bring up all the applications, there are pre-loaded folders, and I would like to add to them. I have tried dragging and dropping them, but it wants to put it on the home screen. I want to add them to the folder within applications. When I installed Skype, it went into the main apps, but I would like to have it in the Microsoft folder. I'm not trying to add to any home screen folders, but the folder within the apps folders.

That's just it, I don't want them in the general folder, and I have not found a way to add them to the pre-loaded folders. Instagram only shows in the social folder, not in the general list.

I don't know what to tell you man, you have three options. You can disable it, you can remove it, or you can uninstall it. The answer will come to you when you hold it down in the general app folder or if you go under applications manager and look at it. The proprietary stuff you can't uninstall as you know, so all you can do is remove or disable. I don't know where Instagram falls in. But I'm sure you can move that into any folder you want and remove the duplicate. If that doesn't work take everything out of the folder, destroy the folder, and make Instagram the first application you deal with. It took me a little bit of moving around, especially with downloaded apps that will appear on your home screen and in the general app folder. Good luck!

I guess people don't understand what you're trying to do but I do! Unfortunately I am stuck in a similar situation where within the apps there are built in folders that I can disable apps from and they'll disappear but I can't add any apps into it because if you hold down on the app which you want to add, it'll try to dump it on the main screen instead.

As an example you want to install some social media like Tinder into the social media folder but it won't let you because you can't scroll to the page where the folder is in within the applications folder. I'm not sure why android makes it so hard or impossible to group apps within the application folder into folders.

If you're in the app tray and press edit (where all the icons have the (-) sign on them), can you not then drag Facebook into the Social Media folder?

Yes, this is correct. Press edit and then drag icons to drop them into folders. You can also drag an icon onto another icon to create a folder this way.

That was it! I'm new to android so this is a bit confusing as well with all the options it has. Thanks for the help!

Thank you! That worked! I knew there had to be a way, but couldn't figure it out. You Rock!
