Application HTC Sense (in process com.htc.launcher) is not responding

I get this error message multiple times a day, and it gives me the options to either Wait or Force Close. I always choose Force Close. Then, my phone will freeze up at a white screen with the HTC logo across it in green. After about 45 seconds, it will finally start acting the way it should again.

I recently had a problem with one of those infected apps in the market. Google pushed the Android Market Security Tool through to my phone though, which took care of the problem. Ever since then though, I have been getting this error message multiple times per day.

Anyone here know how to fix this? I am not rooted, everything is stock.

I figured it out mrsethprice.

Go to settings>applications>manage applications.

Click on the tab that says "All".

Scroll down through the applications until you see "HTC Sense". Click it.

Click on "Clear Cache", "Clear Data", and ""Force Stop", in that order.

Your phone will freeze up for a second, and then you will have to replace your apps and widgets on the home screens. Normally, I would have seen this message about 10 times already today. I did what I described above this morning, and have not seen it at all today.

I guess each phone work differently - I've had so many of those annoying "force close" errors, try that fix(long time ago) - unfortunately... the problem came back.

I wonder if this is an Evo exclusive . Hmm!

@ JamesKBoyd...

Nope... non-rooted Evo.

I mostly get it when I select "select all" when copy and pasting.

I'm willing to "force stop" sense again - maybe I'll have better luck this time around. Anything to stop this Vexatious problem.

I hope that you are able to find something that helps! The solution I posted worked perfectly for me. I haven't seen the error message even once since performing the steps. Before I did that, I would see the error message up to 50 times or more per day.

I was still getting it and I was stock after doing the above steps. Rooted it yesterday and so far so good. Though no idea if it's just waiting to happen again. I'm not on a custom rom or anything.

Question - does clicking CLEAR DATA erase all of your sense settings? by that I mean all of the icons and such you have on each of the sense screens as well as any settings for sense? also the "CLEAR CACHE" for sense is grayed out on my phone. I am using the SPRINT LOVERS ROM (latest).

Thanks ...

Puts your home screen back to stock. Resets location for weather, etc... I don't believe it cache's anything.

Thank you for the information. I have an HTC EVO Shift and started to receive the "force close" message. I have followed your directions and so far (knock on wood) it has resolved the issue. I wonder what causes this problem?

Re: Application HTC Sense (in process com.htc.launcher) is not re

I had this problem with my phone for almost half a year. I would get the "HTC Sense is not responding" message over and over again, and it would cause my phone to lag and be generally unusable. None of the solutions I could find on the internet worked, and I tried just about everything to fix it-- I restored my phone to factory settings multiple times, spent hours and hours on the phone with HTC's crummy customer service trying to diagnose the issue, had them replace the phone, and bought a larger SD card. Finally, when nothing else worked and the problem still kept rearing its ugly head, I took the phone to a local AT&T dealer and had them replace the SIM card.

BINGO! Solution found!

If anyone ever has this issue, skip all the fooling around that I initially went through. Back up your contects through a google account and have an AT&T representative replace the SIM card. Voila! Your problem should be fixed. ;)
