I'm hoping someone can help.
I bought the Razr Maxx HD and set it up as close to my droid 4 as possible. Same settings and same apps from the market. I noticed after a day there was something called "wakelock" draining the battery quickly. I started deleting some apps and that did not work, wakelock would not go away and shut off. I ended up resetting the phone and it went away.
Since then I have started to download some of the apps again but have really started to read the app permissions. I have noticed in several of them it states the app "prevents the phone from sleeping" and some actually use the work "wakelock". I guess I'm looking for some kind of difference between the two. If the permission says it prevents the phone from sleeping is that just while the app is being used? That I am ok with but "wakelock" was the biggest battery use before the reset.
Thank you for any advice. I appreciate the help.

Usually yes, if the apps says that it will prevent the phone from sleeping then it will prevent the phone from sleeping when in use. Once the app is closed out and cleared using the recents function it should allow your phone to go to sleep. Wakelock is slightly different. This is something is actually waking your phone up from sleep. I am assuming your are using something like BetterBatteryStats? If you are then if you could generate a report with it and post it on here so we can see whats up. Also, download an app called CPU Spy. This will monitor your CPU speeds and will show us how often your phone is in Deep Sleep and how often its running.

I have not used either one of those yet. But i sure will. I will install both today and post tonight. Thank you once again.

Both installed and running. I hope they are running at least. Any settings I need to set up for BetterBatteryStats or just let it run?

Nope just let it go and let it collect the info it needs.

I had the same thing when I first got my maxx HD. I found maps was updating my location. Over 1000 wake locks, I unchecked it and now I have seen a dramatic drop in wake locks and a big increase in battery life.

Forgot to mention this yesterday and mention the location reminded me... Open your Maps application with GPS ON and let it get your location and update the newest version. Sometimes that helps with location services and will help with the wakelocks.
