Applications not downloading or updating on backflip

I purchased my backflip when it came out. Worked fine at first, now I can't download nor upgrade my apps. I'm new to the smartphones so I'm completely lost. Someone please help me out.

try going to settings>applications>manage applications>market and then clear the cache and uninstall updates for the marketplace and see if that fixes it
