Appointments?

I have seen in a number of the threads regarding calls from VZW stores and BB stores that they are suggesting that one have an appointment.

Will we need an appointment to get this phone or is it simply enough to go into the store on the day in question and purchase it?

yeah, on the voicemail i got earlier today the verizon rep mentioned that they are setting up appointsments to get the phone on a first come first serve basis.

The appointments are only for the people who pre-ordered far as I know and to my knowledge Best Buy is the only place one could pre-order. VZW wasn't taking po's last I knew. There are several comments scattered throughout the boards from VZW employees/reps stating there will be plenty in stock so they won't sell out. You might want to allow plenty of time for standing in line, though <g>

Called my local store and they said (again) that since there is no official announcement, they are not taking pre-orders, and they will not setup an appointment for this phone (or even take my name/number and let me know when it becomes available.) At least they were nice about it.

Called my local BB. I was concerned that I had not heard anything, so I asked him to confirm my pre-order. He said they still had it, and they werent doing any calls or e-mails until it gets annouced. I asked him about priority, and he said they had a note on my form that I was #2 in line, so they would be calling me second. He also said they would hold the phone for me for 48 hrs. once its released. So, I'm taking all that to mean I dont need an apppointment. I'm #2 in line at that store, and I will be able to walk in and get it anytime within that 48 hr. window. I only hope all that turns out the way I think it will...

Also, I'm really glad I pre-ordered on that first day they started taking them over a month ago. Felt kind of dumb at the time, but I think its going to pay off.

Yes and no. My store took pre-orders but in secret. I got mine pre-ordered so that i know that i will have it but im not at a corporate store im at a premium retailer. we only ordered 2, 1 pre-order and 1 for the store. We are a small town though and there is a corp store 30m down the road anyways.

I know that many people have said that there should be plenty in stock, but would it be better to go in early and buy it in person, or order it online as soon as it is available? (From a Verizon retailer, not BB)

Same thing when I just called the corp Verizon store by my office (Mount Laurel, NJ)

Ditto for my corporate location. He seemed to confirm the imminent availability of the phone saying that it shouldn't be a problem getting one at their location and that he'd see me Thursday morning
